Cloth Paper Scissors Issue 16

It’s all happening!

Humbled and honoured,

Words that describe how I feel about the latest issue of Cloth Paper Scissors.

I am most fortunate to be the Artist in profile in the Jan/Feb edition. I have not seen a copy of it yet but it is on its way.

I was interviewed by Cate Prato, the Features Editor, a lovely and totally empathetic and understanding individual. Thanks Cate.

You can find the lead article here.

For all those who have read my blog for some time, you will recall those sneak peaks of Michael and my Collaborative piece in my March archives.
Well, this is the article it is featured in. Michael, in his inimitable style, took a backseat in this article. That shows his true nature and his incredible spirit – for that I am grateful and also humble.

My excitement is palpable. Again it is a first for me, that is, being featured in a USA publication.

Hello. I have just finished reading your recent article in Cloth Paper Scissors on your Holocaust pieces. I am in tears. I am deeply moved. touched. I found the words "Shema Yisrael" on the piece before I found your written words about them...I am without words to tell you the power of your pieces/art work/creations...what a gift to your father, your family, to Jews everywhere...thank you for doing it, thank you for writing about it, thank you for picking up garbage...amazing...I will come back often to see what you doing...thank you for not letting us ever forget.

PS I just recently completed a memory piece quilt honoring my grandmother...different era...times, but meaningful to me. Obviously she was around during those times but in USA, safe, and I too recall as a very young child being shielded by my mothers arm not to see the concentration camp victims on a theater screen.

This morning I showed your article to my 20 yr old nephew who is an acting student in MN University, and who will be in a play there about the Holocaust. He too found the article very moving and will send the link to his teacher (drama). You have touched many with this piece.

I hope to make it to Topsfield to take Michael's class! Will you be there by any chance?

My copy of CPS arrived yesterday and your feature is what I read first. A brilliant article about heart-centered, memory-honoring and peace-weaving artwork! I enjoyed reading about your sense of purpose and the magic that seems to be at work (synchronicities) when you embark on a project, something I'm also very familiar with.

I'm new to your blog but not to your endeavors. You are amazing! and congratulations on your article in Cloth, Paper, Scissors. I had met Michael at one of his shoe shrine classes. When I told him what I was working on he said you'd be interested in seeing it when I was done. I hope you can stop by my blog to check out my post. I'll be back to visit your work. - Andrea

greetings Judy,

Thanks for your lovely comments about my jewelry work.

I was browsing some zines in the local bookstore a coupla weeks ago, and came across this issue (I had actually never heard of it, but that's not the point as I don't get out much :)
anyway, I just leafed through it & saw one piece that struck me with a sort of MD flair and sort of did a double take... until I read closely what it was all about. I think that was the collab?

Anyway, Congrats on this and all future endeavors.
Beautiful work & love how personally interrelated all your art seems to be. Very much from the soul. Thank you.

I just read the piece on your artwork in CPS. I've have visited your blog a couple of times and never commented. But I felt compelled to after I read the article. I just wanted to let you I was very moved by the piece and the artwork. The way that you're are telling a story (or other's stories) through art. It's very encouraging to see art with a purpose. Not just expressing yourself but that of others who don't have a voice.
